Is Nephrotic Syndrome Fatal?

A nephrotic syndrome is a group of conditions that indicate kidney damage. Nephrotic syndrome is characterized by the presence of a protein called albumin in the urine. It also includes:
  • Hypoalbuminemia: When the level of albumin in the blood is low
  • Edema: Swelling that may occur because of fluid retention
  • Hyperlipidemia: A high amount of fat and cholesterol levels in the blood
  • Albuminuria: A relatively large amount of protein in the urine
Albumin acts as a sponge that takes out extra fluid from the blood into the bloodstream where it stores until eliminated by the kidneys. When albumin spills into the urine, the blood loses its capability to drain waste and fluid, causing edema. Nephrotic syndrome ayurvedic treatment lets remove swelling from the body when kidneys are not otherwise healthy.

As blood passes through the kidneys, the glomerular filter of the kidneys filters out the waste but allow the blood cells and protein to stay in the blood. However, when your kidneys are damaged, the albumin can skip through the filters along with the urine. In nephrotic syndrome, unhealthy glomeruli allow 3 grams or more proteins to leak into the urine, which is almost 15-20 times of the amount that healthy kidneys allow.

Is Nephrotic Syndrome Fatal?

In many cases, when patients do not take care of the kidneys or leave the condition untreated, nephrotic syndrome may turn out to be chronic. The condition may progress to chronic kidney damage if damaged filters are not treated. Chronic kidney disease is a gradual loss of kidney function that is not apparent to the patients until the last stage, which is called end-stage renal disease. Hence, it can be concluded that untreated nephrotic syndrome can progress to renal failure and prove to be fatal when nephrotic syndrome ayurvedic treatment is avoided.

Further complications of nephrotic syndrome are:

  • High blood pressure: Hypertension is a condition in which blood flows through the kidneys with a force greater than normal. High blood pressure for a prolonged time may destroy the ability of the heart, kidneys and other organs to work efficaciously.
  • Anemia: When you have unhealthy kidneys, the body cannot have enough of the red blood cells for the proper functioning. This is again problematic as it may lead to serious conditions.
  • Hypothyroidism: It is a condition in which the thyroid glands do not produce enough thyroid stimulating hormones to meet the body needs.
  • Coronary artery disease: Arteries that supply blood to the heart when gets weakened cause coronary heart disease.
  • Acute kidney failure: Sudden and abrupt loss of kidney function that can prove to be fatal. Hence, it is important to make sure that you timely take nephrotic syndrome ayurvedic treatment to prevent renal failure.
The loss of proteins from the body can give rise to a number of complications in the body when having nephrotic syndrome. Since protein prevents formation of blood clots, the lack of them in the body can clot the blood. These blood clots can obstruct the blood flow in the arteries and the veins, leading to damage of the organs where these vessels reach.

Immunoglobulins, is another type of immune system proteins that averts infections from growing inside the body. Losing them by nephrotic syndrome will lead to increased risk of infections, such as pneumonia, a lung infection, an abdominal infection, a skin infection, and a brain infection. Sometimes, antibiotics to treat nephrotic syndrome also put you at a risk of various infections. Alternatively, you can also take nephrotic syndrome ayurvedic treatment to prevent the damage the kidneys.
