Polycystic Kidney Disease And Related Diet

Disorders in the Kidney is a crucial situation and is always needed to be taken care of strictly. A little pain or infection can lead to significant kidney failures. Kidney failure is broadly divided into two categories i.e., Acute Kidney Failure (AKF) and Chronic Kidney Failures(CKF). As the name suggests, AKF is short-term kidney failure or the sudden damage to the Kidney, and if not treated timely, it may lead to a complete loss of renal capacities.

On the other hand, CKF is a prolonged condition of the kidneys that takes years to develop and induce kidney failure. It can be genetic too.

Polycystic Kidney disease is a form of kidney disease that causes CKF. In polycystic kidney disease, fluid-filled cysts grow inside our Kidney, and it is genetic by nature. If one or both parents have PKD, it is normal for the child to develop this disorder. Unlike any other cysts, PKD cysts tend to change the size and shape of your Kidney making it much larger than usual. Ayurveda suggests that a person can take some necessary measures to prevent any Kidney disorder, be it keeping oneself hydrated, doing proper exercises, or eating things mentioned in the Diet for PKD patients.

Types of PKD:

Abnormal and faulty genes are the main reason behind the polycystic kidney disease. These genes produce some kinds of protein that affects the development of tubules. PKD, in general, can be classified as Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease and Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease having their own pathological and genetic reasons.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease- In this type of disease, the number of cyst in the Kidney tends to increase. The symptoms of ADPKD can be seen from the age of 30 to 40 or even earlier. Symptoms like high blood pressure and pain in the back and side are prevalent in ADKPD, and it can be severe or mild at times. Blood in the urine, urinary tract infections, liver, pancreatic cysts, diverticulosis, brain aneurysm, and kidney stones are some other symptoms of ADPKD.

Autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease- It is associated with the growth of cysts in the kidneys and liver of any human that can even lead to a problem in blood vessels. Its symptoms can be seen right after birth or from a very early age. Thus it is also known as infantile PKD. The worst thing about ARPKD is infants with the crucial conditions die within a few hours or some days after being born due to the respiratory problem they face.

Diet for PKD patients-

It is essential to keep our body fit and healthy inside-outside to protect it from any disease. Healthy eating is a good habit. Every organ of our body is vital, and one of the most important organs is the Kidney. Our body is like Zenga, each organ supporting each other and helping them in proper functioning.
