Nephrotic Syndrome Natural Ayurvedic Treatment

Nephrotic syndrome is a group of symptoms indicating malfunctioning of the kidneys. These conditions may include:

•  Albuminuria: Protein in the urine
•  Hypoalbuminia: Low levels of protein called albumin in the blood
•  Hyperlipidemia: Fat and cholesterol build up in the blood
•  Edema: Swelling in the body parts because of fluid retention

Albumin is a type of protein that draws out excess fluid from the body into the kidney’s bloodstream where it stays until eliminated by the kidneys. When albumin slips from the blood, the vessels lose their capacity to maintain the balance of fluid and electrolyte and cause swelling thereby.

Nephrotic syndrome reveals that there is some problem with the kidneys filters called glomeruli. Glomeruli are the blood vessels that filter blood of the waste and harmful substances and send them to the bladder to be eliminated in the form of urine. As the blood pass through the glomeruli, the filters retains the blood cells and protein and flush out everything else. However, when the filters are damaged, protein can leak into the urine. In nephrotic syndrome, when the kidney’s filters are damaged they allow 3 grams of protein to leak, which is almost 20 times of the amount that is allowed  by healthy kidneys.

Who is at the risk of nephrotic syndrome?

Anyone can be at risk of nephrotic syndrome, but men are more prone to have nephrotic syndrome than women do. There are other risk factors associated with nephrotic syndrome and these may include:

•  Have a disease that pressurize your kidneys
•  Being onto analgesics or nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs
•  Have an infection such as HIV, hepatitis B and C

What causes nephrotic syndrome?

Nephrotic syndrome is caused by conditions that directly or indirectly affect the kidneys, such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) or membranous nephropathy.

In focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, the primary reason why your kidneys get affected is because of the scarring of thee parts of glomeruli. In membranous nephropathy, the immune complexes build up within the filters of the kidneys itself.

Nephrotic syndrome is also caused by chronic conditions such as diabetes or lupus.

The secondary causes of nephrotic syndrome include the systematic diseases that manifests to renal disorder.

What are the signs and symptoms of nephrotic syndrome?

Apart from albuminuria, hyperlipidemia, and edema, patients may also notice the following well being conditions occurring in them:

•  Bubbly or sparkling urine
•  Fatigue
•  Weight gain
•  Anorexia

What are the complications of nephrotic syndrome?

The loss of proteins from the body can progress to a variety of complications. Your body needs protein to function properly and the lack of which makes you prone to various immune system infections. Blood clots is another complication that you may observe with protein loss. Clotting of the blood does not allow oxygen free flow in the body.

A patient also loses immunoglobulin, an immune system protein that fights against disease, during nephrotic syndrome. Antibiotics given to treat these infections may also increase the risk of further damage to your kidneys. Hence, nephrotic syndrome ayurvedic treatment is the better alternative to cure damaged filters than to rely on Allopathy. The complications that may observe during nephrotic syndrome are:

•  Hypothyroidism: A condition in which thyroid gland does not produce the required amount of thyroid hormones.
•  High blood pressure: When the blood in the vessels flow at a high rate than usual.
•  Anemia: Kidney diseases also cause anemia, a condition in which body is not able to produce red blood cells or fewer than normal.
•  Coronary artery disease: The narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart causes coronary artery diseases.
•  Acute kidney failure: Nephrotic syndrome also causes sudden failure of the kidneys all at once.
